You are very welcome to make an appointment to come and visit the Studio to see and purchase the sculpture. There is always new work in progress, brand new pieces here for sale, seconds and other bargains. And every year I have a week long Open Studio for anyone who would like to visit to talk through their own work as well as view the sculpture. The Studio is at the foot of Cribarth, The Sleeping Giant . This photo shows the uncanny sky-line that gave the mountain this enchanting name. It came from sands-walks.blogspot, where there is great descriptions of walking around here.

Osprey Studios sits at the foot of Cribarth, The Sleeping Giant mountain at the southwest gateway into the stunning Brecon Beacons National Park. The area is a Geo-Park, full of fascinating rock formations and caves that influence my sculpture as much as the rolling sky-lines of the mountains. Craig y Nos Castle, now a lovely, unique Hotel is just down the road and next door to that is Craig y Nos Country Park with an excellent, friendly cafe/ restaurant, Changing Seasons Tea Rooms, where they do gorgeous, home-cooked food including great vegetarian and vegan choices. There is easy parking, and beautiful, gentle walks through the grounds of the Castle.

Less than a mile on is the fantastic Dan yr Ogof National Show Caves, deservedly an award-winning Day Out. Henrydd Falls, seen in the Batman 4 Film is along the wonderful gorge that I visit regularly. It specifically inspired the River Series but shows up a lot in my sculpture.

There are a lot of walks radiating from the Studio and I would be delighted to point you in the right direction. You can leave your car here with out any problem. There are several lovely Pubs serving very good food and real Ales near-by too; The Penycae Inn, The Ancient Briton, The Abercrave Inn and The Copper Beech.

Cycling is really popular here in the park. Some stunning routes are shown here.

I have always worked from home, even when I lived in my Van (long time ago!). It is warm and comfortable, convenient and peaceful. I’m there for my kids. In ceramics timing is everything; often there are little 15 minute jobs interspersed with long periods of drying.

Here in Ynyswen I have lots of space, an out-building for the Kiln, easy parking for visitors right in front of the house and good access.

Having  an amazing landscape right on my door step is a constant source of joy and fascination. I walk the mountains and rivers and let the images and forms build them selves. In the Studio music keeps those experiences alive and vivid throughout the slow making process.

There is plenty of easy parking in front and good access into the building. I can deliver to you in my Van or arrange assistance to load your vehicle if you are picking up heavy sculptures. Most pieces will easily fit in a car.

Workshops and tuition are held in The Studio; it is interesting to see work in progress, everything we need is on hand. I have a lot of experience and expertise and I am more than happy to share it with you in Workshops that will guide you towards your own sculptural voice. I specialize in getting beginners started and helping artists find new direction; most of my techniques are very straight-forward. We would design a course to suit your specific needs; you might only need an hour of advice. The fee is £50 p/hr + materials kept.

Clay is stored against the wall inside the Studio to protect it from frost but also so that it is warm to use. You can purchase the clays I use here by the Kilo. 

I will fire for other people in my  Cromartie Work-horse Oval electric kiln (40″w x 33″d x 25″h) for a negotiable fee.
